TMM Productions.

An event production vendor needed to stand out in the crowded LA events market. We built a site as energetic as their shows but professional enough for corporate clients — with bold typography, interactive tools, and a stage-lighting color system.

01 — The brief

The problem

TMM Productions is a full-service event production vendor in Los Angeles, specializing in lighting, DJ/MC services, and AV. They handle everything from intimate weddings to large-scale corporate galas — but their online presence didn't match the energy of their live shows.

The brief was clear: build a site that feels as electric as a packed dance floor. Event planners and couples shopping for vendors compare dozens of websites in a single session. The one that looks like it already knows how to throw a party wins the inquiry.

Target audience: LA event planners, corporate event managers, and engaged couples looking for a production team that can handle lighting design, sound, MC services, and AV — all from one vendor.

02 — Design direction

Why it looks this way

Event production is a visual industry — the website needed to feel like walking into a venue where everything is already set up and glowing. We drew inspiration from stage lighting itself: colored gels, spot beams, and the way light transforms a room.

Syne at 126px in weight 800 immediately communicates confidence. It's not a font that whispers — it's a font that takes the stage. The coral/yellow/violet tricolor accent system mirrors the color temperature of stage lighting. It's the website equivalent of colored gels.

The "Build Your Night" interactive section was the key differentiator. Instead of a passive services page, visitors configure their own event package with checkboxes — selecting lighting, DJ, MC, AV — and see a crew estimate update in real time. This turns browsing into engagement, and engagement into qualified leads.

Design principles

1. Energy without chaos. Bold type and vivid color, but disciplined layout. Every element has breathing room.

2. Interactive over informational. The "Build Your Night" checkbox builder replaces a static services list with active configuration.

3. Service clarity. Six service categories displayed in a clean grid — lighting, DJ, MC, AV, photo/video, decor — each instantly scannable.

4. Dual-audience design. Energetic enough for couples, professional enough for corporate event managers.

What we rejected

Dark moody layouts with smoke effects. Every DJ and event company does this. We went the opposite direction — near-black base with punchy accent colors that pop like stage lights against a dark venue.

We also rejected generic hero sliders. Instead, the hero imagery carousel cycles through real event photos with purpose — each image demonstrates a different service capability (lighting design, sound setup, full-venue transformation).

03 — The design system

Palette, type, and grid

Color palette

Inspired by stage lighting — the coral, lemon, and violet work like colored gels on a near-black stage. The off-white keeps text legible without feeling clinical.

Typography

Display — Syne 800
Build your night.
Body — Figtree 16px
Clean geometric sans-serif at 16px with generous line-height for readability. Syne at 126px H1 weight 800 dominates the hero — it's a display face that commands attention without decorative frills.

Layout architecture

The page follows an engagement-first narrative:

Hero (bold Syne headline + imagery carousel) → Services grid (6 categories: lighting, DJ, MC, AV, photo/video, decor) → Build Your Night (interactive checkbox builder with crew estimate calculator) → Portfolio (event gallery) → Testimonials → Contact / Inquiry form

04 — The build

How we built it

Single-file HTML architecture. No framework, no build step — just HTML, CSS, and vanilla JS with GSAP for scroll-driven animations. Fast to load, easy to update, zero maintenance overhead.

Key engineering decisions

Hero imagery carousel. Auto-advancing image carousel in the hero with crossfade transitions. Each slide showcases a different event type — wedding, corporate, concert — establishing TMM's range immediately.

"Build Your Night" interactive builder. A checkbox-driven configurator where visitors select services (lighting, DJ, MC, AV, photo/video, decor), and the page dynamically calculates a crew estimate. This isn't a quote calculator — it's an engagement tool that makes visitors invest time on the page, dramatically increasing inquiry rates.

Service category grid. Six cards in a responsive grid, each with a distinct icon and short description. No accordion, no tabs — everything visible at once so visitors can scan the full offering in seconds.

Crew estimate calculator. Tied to the Build Your Night section, this dynamically updates based on selected services to show how many crew members TMM would deploy. It sets expectations and builds confidence in TMM's operational scale.

05 — The result

Live site

The finished site captures the energy of a TMM Productions event in digital form. Bold Syne typography commands the page, the tricolor accent system mirrors stage lighting, and the interactive builder turns passive visitors into engaged prospects ready to inquire.
